We heat with wood at Helenenhof, so we don't ever have too much of this precious resource.
We are always building or renovating something somewhere at Helenenhof, so we could use both raw materials like lumber, stone and tiles, and also products like windows and doors. But please contact us before bringing us anything of this nature to be sure we have a use for it and a place to put it!
Because we do most of the building and renovating work ourselves, we need the proper tools for the job. We already have a decently outfitted workshop, but there are certain items missing. Here is an incomplete list:
-A drill press
-Wood clamps of all sizes
-A welding apparatus
-An mid-sized impact drill
We prefer patched clothes to new ones, and hand-made to factory made. But we don't (yet!) have the skills make our own, and we don't always have the time or ability to fix our many items of clothing that need patched, mended, altered or otherwise fixed.
We had an attack of dry rot in the old cow stable at Helenenhof, and in the process of dealing with that we discovered a section of brick wall that needs replaced. It's going to be tricky, because it's the bottom 1/3 of the wall, so it will need to be done piece by piece and be supported as we go, or so I'm told. Anyone who has any experience to lead this project would be more than welcome to do so!
We've got a walkway in the courtyard at Helenenhof which we would like to pave with natural stones, and some experienced help would be much appreciated!
There are many other building projects in planning or already underway at Helenenhof, and we could use help in several areas, including, but not limited to general carpentry, insulating, rendering, excavation, etc. Let us know if you think you could help!
If you're looking for a way to support us in our work, here are two lists to inspire you...
One is a list of things, items, objects that we are wishing for,
and the other is a list of human skills, services, knowledge for which we have a need.
Who knows? Maybe you've got exactly what we're looking for...
